Lauren Barnes comes to Dobbes Family Estate Winery with a wealth of experience in marketing and retail sales. A graduate with degrees in marketing and design from UCLA and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Lauren spent over two decades employed in San Francisco’s top advertising agencies. During those years she also successfully ran her own design agency.

Bringing her skill in design and passion for the visual arts to Oregon, Lauren opened a retail paper and luxury goods store focusing on personalized invitations and fine stationary. Over the ten years Lauren owned and successfully operated the Grand Papery & Gifts, she built a loyal following of customers and clients. To this day that following continues to seek out her expertise and design talents for their business and personal events.

Unlike most, Lauren’s involvement with the wine industry began as a visual experience. As a young girl, Lauren watched her father and Joe Coulombe (aka the original Trader Joe) line up bottles of wine they had recently purchased during a wine buy overseas. Their “homework” was to select the wines for TJ’s. Lauren became fascinated not by what was in the bottles, but instead by what she saw on the bottles. The bold, powerful graphics of the label art made an impact at an early age.

Lauren’s interest in wine has now expanded to include what is inside the bottle, and is thrilled to be able to bring her creativity and experience to bear on influencing the Dobbes brand as well as the audience that consumes the Dobbes Family Estate wines.

Other passions include playing golf or skiing with her husband Bill, family, travel and dinner parties…with wine of course!
